There is collaboration between the Academy of Mathematics, Science, and Technology and the Fine Arts Department at Kennesaw Mountain High School. Students interested in academics and fine arts opportunities are encouraged to explore their passions. Students in the Academy may select a fine arts concentration and earn an additional diploma seal upon the fulfillment of necessary requirements:
Art Concentration
Enroll in a minimum of one art class per school year
After completing Comprehensive Art, follow a concentration in one specific area of art
Participate in one art competition per school year
Build a digital portfolio of a minimum of 8 works (2 per school year) in chosen concentration
Maintain 3.5 GPA in all art classes.
Band Concentration
Enroll in band fall and spring of Freshmen and Sophomore years
Enroll in band a minimum of one semester in junior and senior years*
Maintain 3.5 GPA band classes
Chorus Concentration
Enroll in chorus classes at least 4 semesters; ideally spring semester
Participate in concerts during semesters they are not enrolled in chorus
Participate in Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) each spring
Attend tutoring once a week with Ms. Jacobson during semesters not enrolled in chorus
Maintain 3.5 GPA in all chorus classes
Orchestra Concentration
Enroll in orchestra fall and spring of Freshmen and Sophomore years
Enroll in orchestra a minimum of one semester junior and senior years*
Maintain 3.5 GPA orchestra classes
Theatre Concentration
Participate in a minimum of one theatre class each year: acting, technical theatre, or musical theatre
Involvement in auditioning, producing, and/or performing (onstage or backstage) in one show each school year
Assist with house managing or another technical element with shows in which they are not involved
Maintain 3.5 GPA in all theatre classes
*Necessary enrollment semester may vary based on emphasis
