Requirements for Application
  • Must reside in the Cobb County School District or be otherwise eligible, i.e. parent is a full-time employee of Cobb County Schools;
  • Must complete and return application by the deadline;
  • Students may accept admission from one magnet school only;
  • Must agree to the following program requirements:
    • Required Advanced Scientific Research course and Advanced Scientific Internship in senior year; and,
    • Minimum of 10 magnet courses in math and science.
Admissions Criteria

A local admissions committee will consider the following criteria in making admissions decisions:

  • Middle school grades
  • Standardized test scores
  • Admissions test scores
  • Strong interest and aptitude in math and/or science
  • Strong communication skills
  • Recommendations from middle school math & science teachers and a third educator of the student's choice
Admissions Testing

On January 26, 2008 from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM, all applicants will participate in admissions testing. All applicants will be advised of the test site prior to the test date. This PSAT measures verbal, math, and writing aptitudes and skills; the score will represent one component in consideration for admission to any of the 5 Cobb County Magnet Programs. Students should be prepared to dedicate at least four hours in order to complete the testing process. Make-up date to be announced.
