PRIVATE/HOME SCHOOL APPLICANTS
All applicants must be Cobb County residents.
The application process is slightly different for private students because the families are responsible for asking someone at the student’s current school to send student information.
- All private and home school students who submit an application by the posted deadline are automatically registered for the January admissions test. You will receive instructions about the test via the email of record on your application. You may read about the PSSS, which is actually a version of the PSAT, at www.collegeboard.com. Cobb County Magnet Program coordinators score the tests in-house and do not deduct ¼ point for incorrect answers.
- Send latest nationally-normed scores (any score that indicates a national percentile ranking – NPR) to the Academy office by the end of January. The most common tests are Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS) and Stanford Achievement Tests.
- Communicate with your child’s 8th grade math, science, and English teachers to let each know that they will receive an email directing them to complete a teacher recommendation.
- Submit 7th (full year) and 8th (first semester) grade transcripts sent to the Academy by the end of January. Please send all information to Kelly Ingle via mail, email, or Fax:
